Time to step it up in Hog land

Wow, what an ugly performance yesterday in Lexington. Let me just say first, I think that 2OT loss really took a lot out of our team, both mentally and physically. I think if you look at UF, it also took a lot out of them as how do you explain losing to Miss State on the road but beating UGA in Athens and UT in Knoxville, basically UF had won EVERY road game this year I do believe-yet lost at Miss State. As for our loss, the fact we only loss by 6 with Trey and Travis BOTH having their worst games of the season in the same game. So, in that sense it is hard to expect a win in that place with those guys playing not up to their normal game. I thought Jeremy Price and Dustin Ware played well, Gerald was ok but again his passing ability is not that of a true point guard-a couple crucial times yesterday when we had a shot to cut the lead down, his entry passes to both Trey and Travis were NOT good at all. Still, we had it within striking distance late, thanks to our pesky nature and quite honestly, UK being a team of mostly young players-the fact they are young and also they truly have no depth, I don't think they will make it very far in the NCAA tourney. But, yesterday is gone and now we have to look ahead and try to get a win in Arkansas. We have had some success over there, in fact in recent history I think we have played better there than just about any away venue exept maybe AU. You would have to think that both Trey and Travis will rebound strongly from their disappointing UK performances but then you look at Arky and they just went on the road to Nashville last night and won the game-sure didn't see that coming. I will be previewing Arkansas on Tuesday as the game approaches. I admit I know very little about them as of now so I will take a very hard look and break down the numbers soon.

This is the last weekend before signing day and all appears quiet, UGA hosted a junior day this weekend matter of fact. We now just wait on the final pieces of the "G" puzzle as Ray Drew said on Friday. Isiah Crowell, Jeoffrey Pagan, Jonathan Jenkins-possibly Richardson and Turene could be signing day or beyond boosts to what is already possibly the best recruiting class in the Mark Richt era. Now of course comes the speculation of will he be coaching these guys when they are upperclassmen, I think next year is the year to find out. I have said before and will say again, if we don't have a 9-3 or better regular season, I do believe Mark Richt will be fired. I am not saying I totally agree with that but I do really believe that to be case and I think Richt knows it. I do not think he will hold a FR kid back if he thinks that kid will help him win football games in 2011. So, last week I said 10 or 11 true FR could play, it could be more than that I guess but I just think kids on the OL and secondary, due to depth it makes little sense to burn a year for them. But I think he will NOT be afraid to play a kid, meaning I don't see a Knowshon situation happening next year, a kid that is blowing up the scout team, chances are he will be promoted up to the varsity rather than spend that year on the practice squad. The first two games of 2011 will really be the key to his chances to survive. I know Boise returns the QB but I honestly think our D in year two will be a LOT better than last year, I imagine we will really get after the QB playing without his top two wideouts. Boise's D, well, let's just say I feel really confident that UCF is a much tougher D than Boise. In week 2, Lattimore will not surprise us this year, that game is going to be TOUGH but I think our boys will be really up and prepared for that game-with it being early, our coaches will have the summer to essentially prepare for both of the first two games because the D game plans will certainly be MUCH different for week 1 compared to week 2.

Well, all for now, I will update the blog tomorrow with some recruiting information and then on Tuesday with the Arkansas preview.
