So UGA took control of Coastal Carolina early as they should, got plenty of new guys some playing time, didn't suffer any injuries that I am aware, a perfect day of football in Athens. I didn't listen to the game, only watched the first half yesterday on replay, honestly, those type games are just a bore to me. Don't get me wrong, I am glad we played that game to get a win, get some further playing time etc, but they are essentially like an NFL preseason game that actually does count.
From what little I did see of the game, looked like Murray played well, Crowell had a nice run for his TD but otherwise didn't do all that much which is fine. He showed his talent last week. The WR's looked good catching the ball, the D played well, any time you pitch a shutout playing a lot of reserves, good job. Walsh missed a FG but was bailed out by a penalty, hit a 56 yarder-nice.
Next up is Ole Miss, wow, you think Coach Richt is on a hot seat, what would you call Nutt's seat in Oxford after losing to Vandy 30-7 this past Saturday. Ole Miss is also 1-2 (0-1 in SEC) so this is a game that we need to win. I expect Miss to play MUCH better against us however. I will look at that program in a lot more detail later this week but needless to say, this is a team we should beat. One interesting note, since I live in Grayson and of course the incredible prospect Robert Nkemdiche plays at the high school, his older brother Denzel signed with Ole Miss in June, when he finally qualified. UGA offered him and he was interested but then never visited instead going to Oxford. I looked recently and noticed he was NOT listed on their roster at all. I am not sure what is going on there?? Going to try to find out. Speaking of Robert, attended the game this past Friday, it was youth night and my son and all the youth football players got to go on the field and make a tunnel for the players to run on the field. I will tell you this, the guy is OBVIOULSLY a star player but as the little guys stuck there hands out as the team hit the field Friday night, this mammoth kid made sure to give each kid five-didn't miss a single one and I was very impressed with that. Seems like a really humble young man and yeah, I know Bama leads for him or whatever (actually saw him recently wearing an Auburn hat) but this is the type of guy we need to get to Athens-enourmous talent and down to earth as well.
Just read a little bit on the Ole Miss board, WOW, they sound a lot like UGA over there. Like I say, I expect them to come to play Saturday. If we are not ready for this one, it could be scary. I am hoping our guys will be ready to go and get a conference win. Honestly, we can't afford another loss in conference. I think SCarolina will lose a game, maybe two games but I really think the east winner this year will have a 6-2 record, just a hunch for some strange reason.
ACC picked up Cuse and Pitt, good move for them especially in hoops. Course SEC is supposedly going to get A&M and then also rumor of WVa also. Pac 12 or whatever they are rumored to be getting Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech. The SEC is likely headed to 16 teams as well. I will be curious to see if they go after a couple of ACC programs I feel like would be the perfect fit for the SEC, FSU and Clemson. Speaking of Clemson, great win for them against AU. I knew Auburn was living on borrowed time, just a matter of when the luck would finally run out. All for now, later this week I will take a closer look at Ole Miss.
